Developing individuals through outdoor skills training.

Fast Trek

We offer a 2-month all inclusive instructor training package. This intense program is aimed at individuals who are interested in creating a niche in the outdoor market. The fast trek program is designed to enable access into the industry with detailed tuition on both the instructional and the business aspects of creating and running your own activity provider company.

The intensive course covers the syllabus for two uk based national governing body awards, summer ML and SPA. A minimum of 12 months walking and climbing is required. Participants must be physically and mentally prepared for the challenge, as achieving these qualifications is hard work. During the two months, you will cover the syllabus for both awards, and achieve the required experience to undertake the recognised training for both qualifications.  We will travel the length of the country, visiting a variety of locations for each activity- providing experience in numerous terrain and vegetation types, and different rock types to build a varied portfolio for your logbook. A big part of the experience required for ML involves camp craft and being able to look after yourself and a group overnight in the mountains- therefore a good portion of the course will be spent wild camping and using camp sites where appropriate. You will be working on your own skills and reviewing your group work performance, not doing work experience at a centre with occasional opportunities for personal development!

The course is designed to include a relevant first aid qualification for outdoor instruction. All candidates, dependant on commitment and individual ability, will undergo both National Governing Body training courses before the completion of the course. Both training courses are included in the price structure.

A key hurdle for all pre-outdoor instructors is obtaining group work experience. We facilitate this as we visit different locations throughout the Uk. Using local certified groups of all ages and abilities we combine log book experience with an insight into the soft skills nessecary to develop great outdoor instructors. Further more we give an insight into what future clients expect from a new business within the industry and how best to appraoch various niches within the market. This will not only enable your log books to be filled appropriately but help you acquire industry based skills that will help develop your dreams of the future.
